IMPA exists to provide a venue for young people to achieve the extraordinary through education, performance, and competition.
The Intermountain Percussion Association sponsors percussion and indoor winds competition and education throughout the Intermountain Region. The organization is run by volunteers from within the local music community who dedicate their time to creating a better experience for all the musicians involved.
Competitions take place, throughout the region, between the months of February and April. The IMPA competitive season culminates each April with IMPA Championships at the 11,500 seat Dee Events Center in Ogden, UT.

Our Mission Statement
IMPA exists to provide a venue for young people to achieve the extraordinary through education, performance, and competition.

IMPA is established for the benefit of the percussion and marching ensembles that participate in the activity at all levels of achievement. Our purpose is to provide a venue for young musicians to achieve the extraordinary through education, performance, and competition. We seek to foster positive experiences for all who participate, by promoting education, creativity and freedom of expression through the unification of marching, music and performance education.

The mission of the IMPA is to promote the percussive and marching arts in the Intermountain Region. While the IMPA’s focus, in the past, has been indoor percussion competition, we are committed to promoting, and building support for, the concert percussion and marching band activities in our region. We understand the benefits of developing well rounded musicians and are dedicated to providing participants with life-changing experiences. We provide judged competition for ensembles and clinics for instructional staff with the intent of pushing the art form to be as creative and innovative as possible. We strive to provide performance and competition opportunities for as many students as are interested.
